He also narrated from Yunus ibn ʿAbd al-Aʿla, Bahr ibn Nasr, al-Rabiʿ, Ibn ʿAbd al-Hakam, and Abu Umayyah al-Tarsusi.
ʿAbd al-Rahman ibn ʿUmar ibn al-Nahhas heard from him in the year 339 AH.
Abu Ishaq al-Habbal said, “Ibn al-Nahhas possessed no hadith of ʿAbd al-Malik ibn Shuʿayb with an elevated isnad except a single report, and that report forms a high-level corroboration with Muslim.”
I (the author) say: Ibn Tahir al-Maqdisi heard that narration from al-Habbal on his authority.
Muhammad ibn al-Husayn al-Qurashi informed me; Muhammad ibn ʿImad informed us; Ibn Rifāʿah informed us; ʿAli ibn al-Hasan informed us; ʿAbd al-Rahman ibn ʿUmar al-Bazzar—dictating in his own words—told us; Abu al-Tayyib al-Hasan ibn Muhammad al-Barmaki told us; Yunus ibn ʿAbd al-Aʿla told us; Abu Damrah told us; Yusuf ibn Abi Dharrāh narrated, from Jaʿfar ibn ʿAmr ibn Umayyah, from Anas ibn Malik, who said:
The Prophet ﷺ said, “No believer whom Allah allows to live in Islam for forty years reaches that age without Allah turning away from him three forms of affliction: madness, leprosy, and vitiligo. When he reaches fifty, Allah makes his reckoning easy.” (1)
The author went on to quote the rest of the hadith. It is an objectionable report, and this Yusuf is weak.
227 – al-Fami, Abu Dawud Sulayman ibn Yazid al-Qazwini*
The hadith scholar and trustworthy narrator, Abu Dawud Sulayman ibn Yazid al-Qazwini, known as al-Fami (2), was the travel companion of Abu al-Hasan al-Qattan on their journey.
