Among those who narrated from him were Ibn Jumayʿ al-Ghassani, Abu ʿUmar al-Qasim ibn Jaʿfar al-Hashimi, Ahmad ibn ʿAli al-Sulaymani, and others besides them.

Ibn Manda set out to visit him, but while still on the road he learned of his death. Grieved, he turned back and never entered Basra. He died in 334 AH.

He heard ḥadith from: Sulayman ibn Sayf al-Harrani; Muhammad ibn ʿAli ibn Maymun al-ʿAttar; the jurist Abu al-Hasan ʿAbd al-Malik ibn ʿAbd al-Hamid al-Maymuni; Hilal ibn al-ʿAlaʾ; ʿAbd al-Hamid ibn Muhammad ibn al-Mustam; and their peers.

Those who transmitted from him include: Abu Ahmad Muhammad ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn Jamiʿ al-Dahhan; Muhammad ibn Jaʿfar Ghundar al-Baghdadi; Abu Muslim Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn ʿAli al-Katib; Abu al-Husayn ibn Jumayʿ; and a number of others.

I do not know the exact date of his death, except that he was still teaching in 334 AH and had exceeded eighty years of age.
