Nāfiʿ, from Ibn ʿUmar:
that the Prophet ﷺ said, “O Allah, bless us in our Syria; O Allah, bless us in our Yemen.”
They asked, “And in our Najd?”
He replied, “There will be earthquakes and tribulations there, and there—or he said: from there—the horn of Satan will rise.” (1)

(1) Sound. Al-Bukhari also transmits it (no. 7094) in the Book of Tribulations, ‘Chapter: The Prophet’s statement, “The trial will come from the East,”’ through the chain ʿAli b. ʿAbd Allah → Azhar b. Saʿd al-Samman. He likewise records it (no. 1037) in the Book of Seeking Rain, ‘Chapter: Earthquakes and other signs,’ through the route Muhammad b. al-Muthanna → al-Husayn b. al-Hasan → Ibn ʿAwn. Al-Tirmidhi narrates it (no. 3953) through Bishr b. Adam, the grandson of Azhar al-Samman, who said: ‘My grandfather Azhar al-Samman related it to me.’ Regarding the words ‘in our Najd,’ al-Khattabi explains: Najd denotes the region lying to the east. For someone living in Madinah, his Najd is the desert of Iraq and its surroundings, which lie to the east of the people of Madinah. Linguistically, najd is any elevated land, the opposite of ghawr, which is low-lying; the whole of Tihamah is ghawr, and Mecca belongs to Tihamah. Abu Nuʿaym, in Hilyat al-Awliyaʾ 6/133, reports with a sound chain a marfuʿ hadith from Ibn ʿUmar: ‘O Allah, bless our Madinah, bless our Makka, bless our Sham, bless our Yemen, and bless our saʿ and mudd.’ A man asked, ‘Messenger of Allah, and our Iraq?’ He turned away and then said, ‘In it are earthquakes and tribulations, and there the horn of Satan will rise.’ Muslim includes it in his Sahih (no. 2905 [50]) in the Book of Tribulations, through several chains from Ibn Fudayl → his father: I heard Salim b. ʿAbd Allah b. ʿUmar say, ‘People of Iraq, how you ask me about minor sins while committing major ones! I heard my father ʿAbd Allah b. ʿUmar say: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ declare, “The trial will emerge from here,” and he pointed with his hand toward the East, “from where the two horns of Satan rise.”’ Ahmad (2/143) likewise relates—through Ibn Numayr → Hanzalah → Salim b. ʿAbd Allah b. ʿUmar—from Ibn ʿUmar, who said: ‘I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pointing with his hand toward Iraq, repeating three times, “Here is the trial, here is the trial, here is the trial—from where the horn of Satan rises.”’ (*) Akhbar al-Radi wa-l-Muttaqi, p. 213; Tarikh Baghdad 10/124; al-Ansab 4/30–31; al-Muntazam 6/324; al-ʿIbar 2/217; Shadharat al-Dhahab 2/323.
