88 – Al-Muzayyin, Abū al-Ḥasan al-Baghdādī, ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad
The master and gnostic, Abū al-Ḥasan al-Baghdādī, ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad al-Muzayyin (1).
He kept company with Sahl ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Tustarī and al-Junayd, and he resided for a period in Mecca.
He was counted among the most scrupulous of the brethren and the most perfected in spiritual state (2).
Narrations from him were conveyed by Abū Bakr al-Rāzī and others, and by Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad al-Najjār—who is Abū al-Ḥasan al-Muzayyin the Younger. As for Abū al-Ḥasan al-Muzayyin the Elder of Baghdad, he settled there later on. Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Sulamī (3) distinguished between the two, yet it appears to me that they are one and the same person.
He died in 328 AH.
89 – Al-Nahrajūrī, Abū Yaʿqūb Isḥāq ibn Muḥammad
The master and gnostic, Abū Yaʿqūb Isḥāq ibn Muḥammad, the Sufi, al-Nahrajūrī (4).
