Al-Quḍāʿī said: Yūsuf al-Wāsiṭī died in Dhū al-Qaʿdah of the year 313 AH.
His namesake is the ḥadith transmitter:

a resident of Baghdad.
He narrated from Muḥammad ibn Bakkār ibn al-Rayyān, Abū Bakr ibn Abī Shaybah, Aḥmad ibn ʿAbdah, and Abū Ḥafṣ al-Fallās.
Related on his authority were al-Dāraqutnī, Ibn Shāhīn, al-Muʿaffā al-Nahrawānī, Abū Bakr ibn Shādhān, and ʿAlī ibn Luʾluʾ al-Warrāq.
ʿAbd al-Ghanī ibn Saʿīd said: “He brazenly laid claim to having heard from Ibn Abī Shaybah.” (1)
Al-Barqānī remarked: “He is worth nothing.” (2)
Al-Ḥākim stated: “He reported from anyone he pleased.” (3)
I heard Abū ʿAlī al-Ḥāfiẓ say: “In all my journeys across the lands I never met a single Naysābūrī who lied, except this Abū ʿAmr.” (4)
