al-Juhani al-Andalusi transmitted from Yūnus ibn ʿAbd al-Aʿlā, from Abū al-ʿAbbās al-Daghūlī (1), and from ʿUmar ibn ʿAllak al-Marwazi.
40 – al-Muhāribī, Abū ʿAbd Allāh Muḥammad ibn al-Qāsim ibn Zakariyyā
The shaykh, traditionist, and long-lived scholar, Abū ʿAbd Allāh Muḥammad ibn al-Qāsim ibn Zakariyyā al-Muhāribī, the Kufan, also called al-Sūdānī.
He heard ḥadith from Abū Kurayb Muḥammad ibn al-ʿAlāʾ—he was the last of Abū Kurayb’s students—as well as from Sufyān ibn Wakīʿ, Hishām ibn Yūnus, Ḥusayn ibn Naṣr ibn Muzāḥim, and others.
Those who narrated from him include al-Dāraquṭnī, Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Juʿfī, and a number of other scholars.
Ibn Ḥammād the ḥāfiẓ said: “He died in Ṣafar of the year 326 AH. I never saw him with any sound master copy at all. I attended one of his sessions while Ibn Saʿīd was reading to him the book al-Nahy, transmitted from Ḥusayn ibn Naṣr ibn Muzāḥim. He also believed in al-rajʿa (2).”
Those who died in the same year included ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn Ḥajjāj al-Rishdīnī, and Abū Dharr Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad ibn Sulaymān al-Bāghandī.
