Siyar Aʿlām al-Nubalāʾ - Shams al‑Din al‑Dhahabi - (14/570)

The following note appears at the end of the archetype:

"The ninth volume of Siyar Aʿlām al-Nubalāʾ has been brought to completion. It is the work of the shaykh, imām, learned and practicing scholar, authoritative proof, discerning critic, peerless master who gathered the branches of knowledge, Shaykh al-Islām, Shams al-Dīn Abū ʿAbd Allāh Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad ibn ʿUthmān al-Dhahabī.

This is the first copy to be transcribed from the author’s own autograph, and, as far as possible, it has been collated with that original. All praise and favor belong to Allah; with Him is success and protection.

It will be followed—if Allah, Exalted is He, so wills—by Ḥammād ibn Shākir ibn Sawiyya al-Nasafī in the next volume, which is the tenth.

Work on it was concluded on the night after two nights had passed of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah in the year 740 AH—may Allah grant a good outcome thereafter.

Praise belongs to Allah alone, and blessings and peace be upon our Master Muḥammad, his family, and his Companions."

جَاءَ فِي آخِرِ الأَصْلِ مَا نَصُّهُ: تَمَّ الجُزءُ التَّاسِعُ مِنْ كِتَابِ (سِيَرِ أَعلاَمِ النُّبَلاَءِ) ، لِلشَّيْخِ، الإِمَامِ العَالِمِ، العَامِلِ، الحُجَّةِ، النَّاقِدِ، البَارِعِ، جَامِعِ أَشتَاتِ الفُنُوْنِ، شَيْخِ الإِسْلاَمِ، شَمْسِ الدِّيْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدِ بنِ أَحْمَدَ بنِ عُثْمَانَ الذَّهَبِيِّ. وَهُوَ أَوَّلُ نُسْخَةٍ نُسِخَتْ مِنْ خَطِّ المُصَنِّفِ، وَقُوْبِلَتْ عَلَيْهِ حَسبَ الإِمْكَانِ، وَللهِ الحَمدُ وَالمِنَّةُ، وَبِهِ التَّوفِيقُ وَالعِصْمَةُ. وَيَتلُوهُ - إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ تَعَالَى - فِي الجُزْءِ الَّذِي يَلِيْهِ - وَهُوَ العَاشِرُ - حَمَّادُ بنُ شَاكِرِ بنِ سَويَّةَ النَّسَفِيُّ. وَكَانَ الفرَاغُ مِنْهُ لِلَيْلَتَيْنِ خَلَتَا مِنْ شَهْرِ ذِي الحِجَّةِ، سَنَةَ أَرْبَعِيْنَ وَسَبْعِ مائَةٍ -أَحسَنَ اللهُ خلفهَا-. الحَمْدُ للهِ وَحْدَهُ، وَصَلَوَاتُهُ عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ وَصَحْبِهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
