Aḥmad ibn Isḥāq informed us; al-Fatḥ ibn ʿAbd Allāh informed us; Hibat Allāh ibn al-Ḥusayn informed us; Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad al-Bazzāz narrated to us; ʿĪsā ibn al-Wazīr recounted:
“It was read before the judge Abū ʿUmar Muḥammad ibn Yūsuf—while I was listening—and he was asked: ‘Al-Ḥasan ibn Abī al-Rabīʿ narrated to you; ʿAbd al-Razzaq narrated to us; Maʿmar informed us, from Abū Hārūn al-ʿAbdī, from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī, who said:
‘Prayer was enjoined upon the Prophet ﷺ on the night of the Ascension at fifty prayers. It was then reduced until it became five, whereupon Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said: “With these five you shall have the reward of fifty; each good deed is worth ten like it.”’”
The substance of this ḥadith appears in the sound collections (1) on the authority of Anas ibn Mālik and others, yet this particular chain is soft because of Abū Hārūn (2).
