223 – al-Ghāzī, Abū al-Ḥusayn Muḥammad ibn Ibrāhīm ibn Shuʿayb
The imām, trustworthy authority, and ḥāfiẓ: Abū al-Ḥusayn Muḥammad ibn Ibrāhīm ibn Shuʿayb al-Jurjānī, known as al-Ghāzī.
He heard ḥadith from Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Malik ibn Abī al-Shawārib, ʿAmr ibn ʿAlī al-Fallas, Muḥammad ibn Ḥumayd al-Rāzī, Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Malik ibn Zanjawayh, Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyā al-Dhuhalī, al-Bukhārī, and Abū Zurʿah al-Rāzī.
Among those who narrated from him are Abū Aḥmad ibn ʿAdī, Abū Bakr al-Ismāʿīlī, Abū Aḥmad al-Ḥākim, and others.
I have found no exact record of his death; it occurred in one of the teen years of that century.
We read before Ibn Tāj al-Umānāʾ, through ʿAbd al-Muʿizz ibn Muḥammad, who informed us; Tamīm the Instructor informed us; Abū Saʿd al-Kanjarūdhī informed us; Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad the ḥāfiẓ informed us; Muḥammad ibn Ibrāhīm al-Ghāzī narrated to us; Muḥammad—meaning Ibn Ḥumayd—narrated to us, from al-Ḥakam ibn Bashīr, from ʿAmr ibn Qays al-Mallāʾī, from Jaʿfar, from Saʿīd ibn Jubayr, from Ibn ʿUmar, who said:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “When Ramadan begins, all the gates of Paradise are opened, all the gates of Hell are closed, and the rebellious devils are shackled.” (1)
