was only a young boy, running, and I passed between him and it. He exclaimed, “He has broken our prayer—may Allah sever his footsteps!” The narrator adds, “From that day until now I have never been able to stand on my feet.”
Saʿīd ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz narrated through a client of Yazīd ibn Numrān, from Yazīd ibn Numrān, who said: I saw a crippled man at Tabūk. The man told me, “I once rode a donkey across the Prophet’s ﷺ line of prayer while he was praying. He supplicated, ‘O Allah, cut off his footsteps,’ and after that I never walked on my legs again.” Abū Dāwūd records both of these reports.
Yazīd ibn Hārūn said: al-ʿAlāʾ Abū Muḥammad al-Thaqafī related to us; he said: I heard Anas ibn Mālik say: We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at Tabūk when the sun rose with a brilliance, radiance, and light the like of which I had never seen before. Al-ʿAlāʾ’s report is munkar and weak. Al-Ḥasan al-Zaʿfarānī also transmitted it from Yazīd.
Yūnus ibn Muḥammad said: Ṣadaqah ibn Abī Sahl narrated to us, from Yūnus ibn ʿUbayd, from al-Ḥasan, that Muʿāwiyah ibn Muʿāwiyah al-Muzanī died while the Prophet ﷺ was on the Tabūk campaign. Gabriel came and said, “Would you like to attend the funeral of Muʿāwiyah al-Muzanī?” He replied, “Yes.” Gabriel said, “Like this,” whereupon the mountains and hills were parted.
