and al-Mustamlī. Muhammad ibn ʿAbd al-Rahman informed us, saying: Abū ʿAmr ibn Ḥamdān informed us; Muhammad ibn Jarir the jurist and Muhammad ibn Ishaq al-Thaqafī narrated to us, stating:
“Ahmad ibn Maniʿ narrated to us; al-Ḥusayn ibn Muhammad narrated to us; Israel, from Simāk, from ʿIkrimah, from Ibn ʿAbbās, that the Prophet ﷺ said to Dubāʿah: ‘Perform the Pilgrimage, and stipulate that my place of release is wherever I am detained (1).’”
This is a fair, singular hadith and, in my judgment, one of the finest I possess on Ibn Jarir’s authority.
