He transmitted traditions from Abū Saʿīd al-Ashajj, ʿUmar ibn Shabbah, Hārūn ibn Isḥāq, Aḥmad ibn al-Furāt, and others of their standing. Among those who narrated from him are Abū Isḥāq ibn Ḥamzah, al-Ṭabarānī, Abū Shaykh, ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Muḥammad ibn Siyāh, and the scholars of Isfahān. Ibn al-Jārūd, Abū Muḥammad ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿAlī
Author of Al-Muntaqā fī al-Sunan—a single-volume collection of legal traditions that never descends below the rank of ḥasan (sound) except rarely, and then only in reports over which the expert critics differ (1). He was born sometime in the early thirties of the third century AH. His full name is the imam Abū Muḥammad ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿAlī ibn al-Jārūd al-Naysābūrī.
