among those who transmitted from him were Isḥāq al-Niʿālī, Ibn ʿAdī, Abū Ḥafṣ ibn al-Zayyāt, Abū Bakr ibn al-Muqriʾ, Muḥammad ibn Ismāʿīl al-Warrāq, and many others besides.
Al-Khaṭīb (1) declared him reliable and said that he passed away in 309 AH.
I say: rather, he died in 310 AH.
His reports reach us with an elevated chain through ijāzah, and our teacher Abū al-Ḥajjāj al-Lughawī possesses them with an uninterrupted audition.
106 – al-Ṣaffār, Abū Muḥammad Khālid ibn Muḥammad ibn Khālid *
The shaykh, authoritative transmitter, and scholar: Abū Muḥammad Khālid ibn Muḥammad ibn Khālid ibn Kūlakhsh al-Khuttulī, known as al-Ṣaffār.
He heard ḥadith from Bishr ibn al-Walīd, Yaḥyā ibn Maʿīn, Abū Ibrāhīm al-Tarjumānī, and a number of others.
Those who narrated from him include Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad al-Mufīd, ʿAlī ibn Luʾluʾ al-Warrāq, ʿAlī ibn ʿUmar al-Ḥarbī, and others.
Al-Dāraquṭnī said: “He is sound.”
Al-Mufīd—who himself is considered ruined (2)—reported that he heard from this shaykh an exposition of a ḥadith.
