ʿAbd Allah ibn Abī al-Tāʾib and the daughter of ʿAbd al-Salām told us, saying:
Ibrāhīm ibn Khalīl told us; then Yaḥyā ibn Maḥmūd told us; then Fāṭimah al-Juzdāniyyah informed us twice, and—in our presence—Abū ʿAdnān Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad. They both said:
Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allah told us; Sulaymān ibn Aḥmad al-Lakhmī told us; Muḥammad ibn ʿUthmān ibn Abī Suwayd al-Baṣrī narrated to us; ʿUthmān ibn al-Haytham narrated to us; Ibn ʿAwn narrated, from Ibrāhīm, from ʿAlqamah, from Ibn Masʿūd:
—on the authority of the Prophet ﷺ— that he taught him the tashahhud:
“All words of salutation belong to Allah, as do all prayers and all pure expressions. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger.” ⦗1⦘
No one besides ʿUthmān has transmitted this report from Ibn ʿAwn with an isnād traced back to the Prophet.
