Sometimes greed drives one to the watering-place but leaves him with no path back.
Whoever rides the beast of avarice will be worn out by the chase.
Fortune visits the man who does not pursue it.
The most miserable of people is he who stands closest to the ruler, just as the object nearest the fire is the first to burn.
Whoever shares a ruler’s worldly splendour will share his humiliation in the Hereafter.
