Distribution of the spoils of Hunayn and other matters:
Ibn Ishaq said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then mounted and set out until he encamped the people at al-Jiʿrānah. With him were six thousand captives from the dependents of Hawazin, and so many camels and sheep that no one could reckon their number.
Muʿtamir ibn Sulayman related—on the authority of his father—that al-Sumayt narrated from Anas, who said: “We conquered Mecca and then marched to Hunayn. The idolaters came forward in the finest array I have ever seen: first the cavalry drew up, then the fighting men, then the women behind them, followed by the sheep, and finally the camels. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ began giving one man a hundred (camels) and another man a hundred. The Ansar spoke among themselves: “As for those who fought him, he gives to them; but those who did not fight receive nothing.” When this reached him, he summoned the leading men of the Emigrants and the Helpers. We entered the tent until it was filled. He said, “Company of the Ansar”—three times, or as he phrased it—“what is this report that has reached me?” They answered, “What report has reached you, O Messenger of Allah?” He said, “Are you not pleased that other people go away with wealth while you go…"
