Abu Hamid ibn al-Sharqi said: “I heard Muhammad ibn Yahya al-Dhuhli dictate a hadith, whereupon al-Jarudi objected; so Muhammad ibn Yahya rebuked him (1). When the gathering met for its second session, al-Dhuhli asked, ‘Is Abu Bakr present?’
He replied, ‘Yes.’
He said, ‘What you said is correct, for I returned to my book and found it exactly as you had stated (2).’
Yahya ibn Muhammad al-ʿAnbari said: “Muhammad ibn al-Nadr al-Jarudi died and was buried on Thursday evening, the seventeenth of Rabiʿ al-Awwal in the year 291 AH. Our leader Abu ʿUmar al-Khaffaf led the funeral prayer over him, and Ahmad ibn Asad, the governor, also came out, performed the prayer over him, and departed on foot.”
As for Muhammad ibn al-Nadr ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhab, he was mentioned earlier.
Among the narrations transmitted by al-Jarudi is the following chain: al-Hasan ibn ʿAli ibn al-Khallal informed us; Jaʿfar ibn ʿAli informed us; Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Silafah informed us; Ibn Mak ⦗3⦘ informed us; Abu Yaʿla al-Khalili narrated to us; Abu ʿAbd Allah al-Hakim narrated to us; Yahya ibn Mansur narrated to us; Muhammad ibn al-Nadr al-Jarudi narrated to us; ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿAbd al-Rahman al-Samarkandi informed us; Muhammad ibn Bakr narrated to us, from Sadaqah ibn Abi ʿImran, from Iyad ibn Luqayt, from al-Baraʾ, who said:
“The Prophet ﷺ passed through an open wasteland where a dead animal lay and remarked, ‘The life of this world is of less worth in Allah’s sight than this [carcass] is to its owner.’ ”
Muhammad ibn Bakr is not al-Bursani (4); rather, he is known as al-Hisni.
