(9) Al-Bukhari also recorded this report, 7/311 (Book of Maghazi, chapter: The Expedition of the Trench), through the route of Abu Nuaym with the same chain. Sulayman ibn Surad (with a damma on the sad, a fatha on the ra, followed by an un-dotted dal) ibn al-Hawn al-Khuza‘i was a well-known Companion; it is said that his original name was Yasar, which the Prophet changed. According to Ibn Hajar, he appears in al-Bukhari only in this hadith and another cited earlier in the description of Iblis. Sulayman was the oldest of the Kufans who set out to avenge Husayn ibn Ali; he and his followers were killed at Ayn al-Warda in 65 A.H.
