Abū Yaʿqūb al-Adraʿī said, “ʿUthmān ibn Khurrazādh died in Antioch in Dhū al-Ḥijjah of the year 281 AH.”
Abū Saʿīd ibn Yūnus, however, stated, “He passed away in Muḥarram of the year 282 AH,” and the same date was recorded by ʿAmr ibn Duḥaym.
ʿUmar ibn ʿAbd al-Munʿim ibn ʿUmar ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUdhayr al-Dimashqī (2) narrated to us on several occasions; ʿAbd al-Ṣamad ibn Muḥammad, the judge, narrated to us in the year 609 AH, while I am in the fourth tier; ʿAlī ibn al-Musallam, the jurist, narrated to us; al-Ḥusayn ibn Ṭalāb narrated to us; Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad al-Ghassānī narrated to us; Ibrāhīm ibn Muḥammad ibn Ṣadaqa narrated to us; ʿUthmān ibn Khurrazādh narrated to us; al-Musharraf ibn Abān narrated to us; ʿAmr ibn Jarīr narrated to us, from Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr, from Abū Salamah, from Abū Hurayrah, who said:
The Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—said, “The best place in the mosque is the row directly behind the imam.”
ʿAmr ibn Jarīr is Abū Saʿīd al-Bajalī; Abū Ḥātim declared him a liar. (3)
