We were informed by Aḥmad ibn ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd (1), the ḥadīth scholar Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad, Sunqur al-Thaghrī (2), Aḥmad ibn Maktūm, ʿAbd al-Munʿim ibn ʿAsākir (3), ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad the jurist (4), and a number of others. They said: ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUmar informed us; Saʿīd ibn Aḥmad ibn al-Bannāʾ related it to us in person. (ḥ)
Aḥmad ibn Isḥāq also informed us; Akmal ibn Abī al-Azhar al-ʿAlawī informed us; Ibn al-Bannāʾ informed us; Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad al-Zaynabī informed us; Muḥammad ibn ʿUmar ibn Khalaf informed us; Abū Bakr ibn Abī Dāwūd narrated to us; ʿAbd Allāh ibn Saʿīd narrated to us; Ziyād ibn al-Ḥasan ibn al-Furāt al-Qazzāz narrated to us, from his father, from his grandfather, from Abū Ḥāzim, from Abū Hurayrah, who said:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “There is not a single tree in Paradise whose trunk is not of gold.”
Al-Tirmidhī (5) also recorded it through ʿAbd Allāh—namely, Abū Saʿīd al-Ashaj—and our chain is higher.
= 9/455–456 through the chain of ʿAli ibn ʿAbd Allah; also in Muslim (no. 2022) in Kitab al-Ashriba (Drinks), chapter “The Etiquette of Eating and Drinking,” transmitted by Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shayba and Ibn Abi ʿUmar. All three report from Sufyan ibn ʿUyayna, from al-Walid ibn Kathir, from Wahb ibn Kaysan, who heard it from ʿUmar ibn Abi Salama … Muslim further records it with two additional isnads: Ibn Abi Maryam → Muhammad ibn Jaʿfar → Muhammad ibn ʿAmr ibn Halhala → Wahb ibn Kaysan → ʿUmar ibn Abi Salama.
Al-Tirmidhi also narrates it (no. 1857) through Maʿmar → Hisham ibn ʿUrwa → his father → ʿUmar ibn Abi Salama …
