Abū Bakr al-Sijistānī, the author of many works.
He was born in Sijistān in the year 230 AH. His father took him travelling while he was still a small boy, and he would later say, “I witnessed the funeral of Isḥāq ibn Rāhawayh.” I say: that funeral took place in Shaʿbān of 238 AH. The first teacher from whom he heard hadith was Muḥammad ibn Aslam al-Ṭūsī, and his father was delighted at this because of Muḥammad ibn Aslam’s great stature.
He narrated from his father, his uncle, ʿĪsā ibn Ḥammād Zughbah, Aḥmad ibn Ṣāliḥ, Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyā al-Zimmānī, Abū Ṭāhir ibn al-Sarḥ, ʿAlī ibn Khushram, Muḥammad ibn Bashshār, Naṣr ibn ʿAlī, ʿAmr ibn ʿUthmān al-Ḥimṣī, Kathīr ibn ʿUbayd, Mūsā ibn ʿĀmir al-Murri, Maḥmūd ibn Khālid, Muḥammad ibn Salamah al-Murādī, Hārūn ibn Isḥāq, Muḥammad ibn Maʿmar al-Baḥrānī, Abū Saʿīd al-Ashajj, Hārūn ibn Saʿīd al-Aylī, Muḥammad ibn Muṣaffā, Isḥāq al-Kawsaj, al-Ḥasan ibn Aḥmad ibn Abī Shuʿayb, ʿAmr ibn ʿAlī al-Fallās, Hishām ibn Khālid al-Dimashqī, al-Ḥasan ibn Muḥammad al-Zaʿfarānī, Ziyād ibn Ayyūb, al-Ḥasan ibn ʿArafah, Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyā al-Dhuhlī, Isḥāq ibn Ibrāhīm Shādhān, Yūsuf ibn Mūsā al-Qaṭṭān, ʿAbbād ibn Yaʿqūb al-Rawājini (1), and many other scholars in Khurāsān.
