We were informed by Abū al-Ḥusayn ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad (1)—if my recollection is correct—together with ʿUmar ibn Muḥammad al-Fārisī (2) and a number of others, who said: ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUmar informed us; ʿAbd al-Awwal ibn ʿĪsā informed us; Abū al-Ḥasan al-Dāʾūdī informed us; ʿAbd Allāh ibn Aḥmad informed us; ʿĪsā ibn ʿUmar al-Samarqandī informed us; the ḥadīth master ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān informed us; Muḥammad ibn Kathīr informed us, and he recounted it in similar terms.
Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Nasāʾī also recorded it from Abū Dāwūd, from Muḥammad ibn Kathīr, and Abū ʿĪsā included it in his Jāmiʿ through the ḥadīth master ʿAbd Allāh al-Dārimī. Our chain meets theirs with a higher isnād.
We were further informed—during my own recitation—by the jurist Abū al-Qāsim ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAbd al-Ḥalīm (3); he informed us that ʿAlī ibn Mukhtār informed us; that Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad, the ḥadīth master, informed us; that Abū Bakr Aḥmad ibn ʿAlī al-Ṣūfī informed us; that ʿAlī ibn Aḥmad al-Razzāz informed us; that the jurist Aḥmad ibn Salmān narrated to us; that Abū Dāwūd Sulaimān ibn al-Ashʿath in Basra narrated to us; that Abū Tawbah al-Rabīʿ ibn Nāfiʿ narrated to us; that ʿUbayd Allāh ibn ʿAmr narrated to us, from Ayyūb, from Ibn Sīrīn, from Abū Hurayrah:
that the Prophet ﷺ (forbade going out to meet incoming merchandise; if someone intercepts it and buys it, then the owner of the goods retains the option when he reaches the market).
