The imam, ḥadith scholar, and indefatigable traveler: Abū ʿAbd Allah Aḥmad ibn al-Khalīl ibn Ḥarb al-Qurashī al-Nawfalī, their client, from Qumis.

He narrated in Isfahān from Abū al-Naḍr, ʿUbayd Allah ibn Mūsā, Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Muqriʾ, and Muʿallā ibn Asad.

Those who transmitted from him include Muḥammad ibn Ibrāhīm ibn Yazīd al-Zuhrī, al-Faḍl ibn al-Khaṣīb, ʿUmar ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn Ḥasan, and others.

(1) The author records his own biography in his work Mashyakha (manuscript, fol. 110). (2) The base manuscript ends the word with ya (thus: bisray), whereas Tadhkirat al-Huffaz, 2/607, has it with a final ha (bisarah). See also Muʿjam al-Buldan, s.v. saraw and sarat. (3) It is most probably Abu ʿAbd Allah Safwan b. Sulaym al-Zuhri al-Madani, the trustworthy imam, hadith memoriser and jurist whose biography appeared earlier in vol. 5, p. 364 of this work.
