Among those who transmitted from him were: Abū Bakr ibn Abī al-Dunyā, Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyā ibn Mandah, Abū Bakr ibn al-Bāghandī, and others.
Al-Dāraqutnī said, “He is reliable, a distinguished ḥāfiẓ.”
Abū ʾl-Ḥusayn ibn al-Munādī said, “We have never seen his like in his discipline. He fell ill while selecting ḥadīths from ʿAbbās al-Dūrī.”
Abū Nuʿaym the ḥāfiẓ said, “Ibrāhīm ibn Ūrma surpassed the scholars of his age in knowledge and memorization. He settled in Iraq, where people wrote down ḥadīths from what he provided.”
I (the author) say: His narrations did not become widely circulated because he died before the period of extensive transmission.
He lived fifty-five years.
Ibn al-Munādī said that he died late in the year 266 AH.
