Ahmad ibn Salamah (1) informed us—on the authority of Yahya ibn Nawsh. Abu Talib ibn Yusuf informed us; Abu Ishaq al-Barmaki informed us; Ali ibn Abd al-Aziz informed us; and Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Hatim narrated, saying:
“I asked my father and Abu Zur‘ah about the doctrinal positions of the people of the sunnah concerning the fundamentals of the religion. They replied: ‘We encountered the scholars in every land, and part of the creed they all held is that Allah is above His Throne, distinct from His creation, exactly as He has described Himself, without asking how; and His knowledge encompasses everything.’ ”
