I say: Some have alleged that this expedition took place in Rajab of the year 8 AH.
Expedition of Abū Qatadah to Khudrah
Al-Wāqidī relates in his Maghāzī: They say the Messenger of Allah ﷺ dispatched Abū Qatadah ibn Ribʿī al-Anṣārī against the tribe of Ghaṭafān with fifteen men and instructed him to launch a surprise attack. He advanced, fell upon a large encampment of theirs, and surrounded it. One of the inhabitants cried out, “O Khudrah!” Some of their men fought back; those who showed themselves were killed. The raiders drove off the livestock—camels and two thousand sheep—and captured many prisoners. They were away for fifteen nights; this occurred in Shaʿbān of that same year. His next expedition, to Idham, followed soon after in Ramadan.
Death of Zaynab, Daughter of the Prophet ﷺ
She was his eldest daughter. She died in this same year, and Umm ʿAtiyyah al-Anṣāriyyah, together with other women, washed her body. The Prophet ﷺ handed them his waist-cloth, saying, “Shroud her in this next to her skin.” Her daughter, Ummāmah bint Abī al-ʿĀṣ, was the child the Prophet ﷺ used to carry in prayer.
