Muḥammad ibn al-Farrukhān (1) said: “I heard Aḥmad ibn Yūnus relate, ‘My father brought me to al-Fudayl ibn ʿIyāḍ. He stroked my head and I heard him supplicate, “O Allah, beautify his appearance and his character.”’
Abū Nuʿaym the ḥāfiẓ said: Aḥmad ibn Yūnus died in the year 268 AH.
I add: He passed away in Isfahān and was counted among its foremost authorities in isnād transmission.
227 – Yūnus ibn Ḥabīb, Abū Bishr al-ʿIjlī, their client
The traditionist, the authoritative proof, Abū Bishr al-ʿIjlī—their client—from Isfahān.
He transmitted from Abū Dāʾūd al-Ṭayālisī, providing full chains of transmission in a large volume, and from Bakr ibn Bakkār, ʿĀmir ibn Ibrāhīm, Muḥammad ibn Nashr—with a nūn—al-Ṣanʿānī, and others.
Among those who narrated from him are Abū Bakr ibn Abī ʿĀṣim, Abū Bakr ibn Abī Dāʾūd, ʿAlī ibn Rustum, and ʿAbd Allāh ibn Jaʿfar ibn Fāris.
Abū Muḥammad ibn Abī Ḥātim said: “I wrote from him, and he is reliable.” (2)
Ibn Abī ʿĀṣim also told me that Ibn al-Furāt instructed him to record ḥadith from Yūnus ibn Ḥabīb.
