Muʿammal ibn Muḥammad, along with others, informed us that Abū al-Yumn the philologist had told them. Abū Manṣūr al-Qazzāz then reported to us; Abū Bakr al-Khaṭīb reported to us; Abū Bakr Aḥmad ibn al-Ḥasan, the qāḍī of Harash in Naysābūr, reported to us: I heard Abū Isḥāq Ibrāhīm ibn Aḥmad al-Balkhī narrate from Muḥammad ibn Yūsuf al-Firabrī that he used to say, “Ninety (1) thousand men heard the book al-Ṣaḥīḥ of Muḥammad ibn Ismāʿīl, and no one remains to transmit it except me (2).”
Muḥammad ibn Ṭāhir al-Maqdisī said: “A number of people transmitted al-Bukhārī’s Ṣaḥīḥ; among them were al-Firabrī, Ḥammād ibn Shākir, Ibrāhīm ibn Maʿqil, and Ṭāhir ibn Muḥammad ibn Makhlad, both of them from Nasaf.”
