117 – And their father was ʿUthmān ibn Saʿīd al-Ḥimṣī.*
He was a disciple of Ḥarīz ibn ʿUthmān and Shuʿayb ibn Abī Ḥamzah. A truthful man and a hadith scholar, his narrations were transmitted by his two sons, ʿAbbās al-Tarqafī, Muḥammad ibn ʿAwf al-Ṭāʾī, and ʿUthmān ibn Saʿīd al-Dārimī.
Aḥmad and Ibn Maʿīn considered him reliable (1), and al-Nasāʾī and others accepted his reports as evidence. ʿAbd al-Wahhāb ibn Najdah said, “People used to say that he was one of the abdāl (spiritual substitutes) (2).”
I say: He died not long after Abū al-Yamān (3).
118 – al-Marrār ibn Ḥammūyah ibn Manṣūr al-Thaqafī** (ق)

١١٧ - وَأَبُوْهُمَا عُثْمَانُ بنُ سَعِيْدٍ الحِمْصِيُّ *
مِنْ أَصْحَابِ حَرِيْزِ بنِ عُثْمَانَ، وَشُعَيْبِ بنِ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ.
وَهُوَ صَدُوْقٌ، صَاحِبُ حَدِيْثٍ.
رَوَى عَنْهُ: ابْنَاهُ، وَعَبَّاسٌ التَّرْقُفِيُّ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بنُ عَوْفٍ الطَّائِيُّ، وَعُثْمَانُ بنُ سَعِيْدٍ الدَّارِمِيُّ.
وَثَّقَهُ: أَحْمَدُ وَابْنُ مَعِيْنٍ (١) ، وَاحْتَجَّ بِهِ النَّسَائِيُّ وَغَيْرهُ.
قَالَ عَبْدُ الوَهَّابِ بنُ نجدَةَ: كَانَ يُقَالُ: إِنَّهُ مِنَ الأَبدَالِ (٢) .
قُلْتُ: مَوْتُهُ قَرِيْبٌ مِنْ أَبِي اليَمَانِ (٣) .
١١٨ - المَرَّارُ بنُ حَمُّويَه بنِ مَنْصُوْرٍ الثَّقَفِيُّ ** (ق)
الإِمَامُ، الفَقِيْهُ، الحَافِظُ، شَيْخُ هَمَذَانَ، أَبُو أَحْمَدَ الثَّقَفِيُّ الهَمَذَانِيُّ.
