I say: We have not discovered the exact year of his death; he was still alive until roughly the year 250 AH, and Aḥmad ibn ʿAlī al-Jazarī heard from him in 247 AH.
Aḥmad ibn Hibat Allāh informed us; ʿAbd al-Raḥīm ibn Abī Saʿd reported to us; Saʿīd ibn Ḥusayn al-Rīwandī, in 544 AH, related to us; al-Faḍl ibn al-Muḥibb narrated to us; al-Ḥusayn al-Khaffāf narrated to us; Abū al-ʿAbbās al-Sarrāj told us; Muḥammad ibn Masʿūd al-Ṭarsūsī told us; ʿAbd al-Razzaq reported to us, saying: Maʿmar informed us, from Yaḥyā, from Abū Salamah, from Abū Hurayrah:
He would offer qunūt in the final rakʿah of ẓuhr, ʿishāʾ, and ṣubḥ, and he would state that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to do the same. (1)
