Muslim and al-Nasāʾī said, “Ibn Rāfiʿ is reliable and trustworthy.” (1)
Zanjuwayah ibn Muḥammad reported: “Muḥammad ibn Rāfiʿ died in the month of Dhu al-Ḥijjah, in the year 245 AH. Aḥmad ibn Naṣr the devotee washed his body, and Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyā led the funeral prayer.”
Al-Ḥākim relates: Aḥmad ibn Bālūwayh al-ʿAfsī informed us; Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq ibn Ibrāhīm narrated to us; I heard Abū Bakr al-Madanī—meaning Muḥammad ibn Nuʿaym—say:
“I saw Muḥammad ibn Rāfiʿ in a dream three days after his death; a copy of the Qurʾān was in his lap, being recited. I said to him, ‘Have you not died?’ He gave me a displeased look, so I said, ‘I beseech you by Allah—tell me, what has your Lord done with you?’ He replied, ‘He has given me the glad tidings of relief and repose.’” (2)
Abū al-Ḥusayn the ḥāfiẓ informed us; Jaʿfar ibn ʿAlī, ʿAlī ibn Hibat Allah, Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad, and ʿAbd Allah ibn Rawāḥah also told us:
Abū Ṭāhir al-Salafī informed us; Abū al-Qāsim ibn al-Faḍl informed us; Ibn Maḥmish narrated to us; Ḥājib ibn Aḥmad informed us; Muḥammad ibn Rāfiʿ narrated to us; Ibrāhīm ibn al-Ḥakam ibn Abān narrated to me, from his father, from ʿIkrimah, that Abū Hurayrah related:
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by a man who was driving a badana (sacrificial camel) while walking. The Prophet ﷺ asked him about it and the man replied, ‘It is a badana.’ So he ordered him to ride it.” (3)
