al-Mughīrah—from him.
Hammād ibn Salamah narrated—from Ḥabīb al-Shahīd—from Maymūn ibn Mihrān—from Yazīd ibn al-Aṣamm—from Maymūnah—who said: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ married me when both of us were outside the state of consecration at Sarif.” It was recorded by Abū Dāwūd, and Muslim collected it as well through another chain that also goes back to Yazīd ibn al-Aṣamm.
Sulaymān ibn Ḥarb said: Ḥammād ibn Zayd related to us; he said: Maṭar al-Warrāq related to us, from Rabīʿah ibn Abī ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, from Sulaymān ibn Yasār, from Abū Rāfiʿ, who said: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ married Maymūnah while he was outside the state of ihrām, and he consummated the marriage with her while likewise outside ihrām. I was the messenger between them.”
Isrāʾīl reported—from Abū Isḥāq—from al-Barāʾ—who said: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed ʿumrah in the month of Dhu al-Qaʿdah.” He then related the report at length; in it we read: “When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ departed from Mecca, the daughter of Ḥamzah followed them, calling out, ‘O uncle, O uncle!’ ʿAlī, may Allah be pleased with him, took her and said to Fāṭimah, ‘Here she is for you,’ whereupon she carried her. ʿAlī, Zayd ibn Ḥārithah, and Jaʿfar then disputed over her custody. ʿAlī said, ‘I took her, and she is my cousin.’ Jaʿfar said, ‘She is my cousin too, and her maternal aunt is my wife.’ Zayd said, ‘She is the daughter of my brother.’ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ruled that she be given to her aunt, saying, ‘The maternal aunt is in the place of the mother.’ He then said to ʿAlī, ‘You are of me and I am of you’; to Jaʿfar, ‘You resemble me in appearance and character’; and to Zayd, ‘You are our brother and our freedman.’ Al-Bukhārī recorded it through ʿUbayd Allah—on his authority.
