al-Ḥasan al-Jahḍamī the Younger.
He narrated from Ḥaramiyy ibn ʿUmārah; Wahb ibn Jarīr; ʿAbd al-Ṣamad ibn ʿAbd al-Wārith; Abū Dāwūd al-Ṭayālisī; Yazīd ibn Hārūn; Abū ʿAlī al-Ḥanafī and his brother Abū Bakr al-Ḥanafī; Abū ʿĀṣim; Sulaymān ibn Ḥarb; al-Muqriʾ; and others of their rank. He did not meet his grandfather.
Those who received ḥadith from him include Muslim, Abū Dāwūd, al-Tirmidhī, al-Nasāʾī, Abū Zurʿah, Abū Ḥātim, al-Bukhārī in his History, Aḥmad ibn Yaḥyā al-Tustarī, Muḥammad ibn Hārūn al-Ḥaḍramī, ʿUmar al-Bujayrī, Ibn Ṣāʿid, Abū Bakr ibn Abī Dāwūd, ʿAlī ibn al-ʿAbbās al-Bajalī, and many others.
Abū Zurʿah said, “I had hoped he would be a successor”—that is, he died before reaching old age.
Ibn Abī Ḥātim relates: “I asked my father about him; he declared him reliable and spoke at length in praise of him.” (1)
Ṣāliḥ ibn Muḥammad said, “Reliable, truthful.”
Al-Tirmidhī remarked, “He was a ḥāfiẓ, a master of ḥadith.”
Al-Nasāʾī said, “He and his father are both trustworthy.”
Al-Nasāʾī—and others—also stated that he died in 250 AH; some said in Shaʿbān of that year, and his father had passed away four months earlier.
