Abū Ḥātim said, “He is trustworthy.” (1)
Al-Khaṭīb mentions him and dates his death to Shaʿbān of the year 246 AH, at the age of eighty. (2)
Abū al-Fath Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥīm related to us in 700 AH; ʿAbd al-Wahhāb ibn Ẓāfir related to us; Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Ḥaḍramī related to us; Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad al-Muʿaddil related to us; ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Muẓaffar al-Kahhāl related to us; Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad al-Muhandis related to us; Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad al-Bāhilī related to us; Aḥmad ibn Ibrāhīm ibn Kathīr related to us; Abū ʿĀmir al-Qaysī related to us; Muḥammad ibn Ṣāliḥ al-Tammār related to us, from Saʿd ibn Ibrāhīm, from ʿĀmir ibn Saʿd, from his father:
Saʿd ibn Muʿādh ruled concerning Banū Qurayẓah that every male who had reached the stage “upon whom the razor passes” (i.e., reached puberty) should be killed, and that their property, women, and children be distributed.
When this was reported to the Prophet ﷺ, he said, “This day he has judged them with the judgment of Allah, pronounced from above the seven heavens.”
Al-Nasāʾī alone recorded this report. (3) He transmitted it through the students of Abū ʿĀmir al-ʿAqadī.

(2) Tarikh Baghdad, vol. 4, p. 7, quoting Yaʿqub ibn Ishaq: “I asked Salih about the two Duruqis, Yaʿqub and Ahmad. He replied: Ahmad reported the greater number of hadith and was more knowledgeable in hadith, whereas Yaʿqub’s chains were the higher. Both, however, were reliable.” Ibn Hajar adds in Tahdhib al-Tahdhib, 1/10: al-ʿUqayli judged him reliable. Al-Khalili says in al-Irshad: “reliable and unanimously accepted.” Ibn Hibban likewise lists him in al-Thiqat.
(3) The isnad is hasan (acceptable). The narration appears in the still-unprinted Sunan al-Nasaʾi; Ibn Hajar also attributes it to that collection in Fath al-Bari, 7/317. Al-Bukhari records it (7/316–317) in the Book of Expeditions, chapter “The Prophet’s ﷺ return from al-Ahzab,” and Muslim does so as well (no. 1768) through several chains from Shuʿbah, from Saʿd ibn Ibrahim, from Abu Umamah ibn Sahl ibn Hunayf, from Abu Saʿid al-Khudri. In the report the Prophet ﷺ said, “I have ruled according to the judgment of Allah,” and—alternatively—“according to the judgment of the King.” Muslim also transmits the wording, “You have judged among them according to the judgment of Allah,” and on another occasion, “You have judged according to the judgment of the King.” Ibn Hajar comments that Shuʿbah’s version is the most reliable and that Saʿd ibn Ibrahim may have transmitted the report through two separate chains.
