Ahmad passed away in the year 246 AH.
Ahmad ibn Salamā reported to us, from ʿAbd al-Raḥīm ibn Muḥammad al-Kāghadī, who said: al-Ḥasan ibn Aḥmad informed us, who said: Abū Nuʿaym the ḥāfiẓ informed us, who said: Isḥāq ibn Aḥmad narrated to us, who said: Ibrāhīm ibn Yūsuf narrated to us, who said: Aḥmad ibn Abī al-Ḥawārī narrated to us, who said: Abū Muʿāwiyah—from Hishām ibn ʿUrwah, from his father, from ʿĀʾishah, from ʿĀṣim ibn ʿUmar—stated:
ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “Whoever hankers after authority will never be just in it.” (1)
