Muslim has recorded this report.
Al-Muʿtamir said: My father related to us from Anas that in the early days a certain man would give the Messenger of Allah ﷺ a few palm-trees—or whatever amount of his wealth Allah willed—until Allah granted him victory over Qurayẓah and al-Naḍīr. After that conquest the Prophet began returning such gifts. My family therefore ordered me to go to him and ask for what they had given—or at least part of it. The Prophet ﷺ, however, had already assigned those palms to Umm Ayman. I went and asked him, and he returned them to me.
Umm Ayman then came, wrapped a piece of cloth around my neck, and kept saying, “No, by Allah—there is no god but Him—he will not give them to you when he has already given them to me!” The Prophet of Allah ﷺ said, “Umm Ayman, leave him, and in exchange you shall have such-and-such.” Still she kept insisting, “No, by Allah,” until he granted her ten times as many palms—or something close to that.
In another wording found in the Ṣaḥīḥ she kept repeating: “No, by Allah, not until I am given ten times as much.” Both al-Bukhārī and Muslim included the report.
Events of year seven AH: Ḥāṭib ibn Abī Baltaʿah returned from his embassy to al-Muqawqis, the ruler of Egypt, bearing the latter’s gift to the Prophet ﷺ. It consisted of Māriyah the Copt—who later bore the Prophet’s son Ibrāhīm—her sister Sīrīn, whom the Prophet ﷺ granted to Ḥassān ibn Thābit, the Prophet’s mule Duldul, and his donkey Yaʿfūr.
In that same year Thuwaybah, the nurse who had suckled the Prophet ﷺ with the milk of her son Masrūḥ, passed away. She had been a bond-woman of Abū Lahab, who manumitted her in the year of the Hijrah. The Prophet ﷺ used to send her provisions and clothing in Mecca until news of her death reached him in year seven, on his return from Khaybar. He asked, “What became of her son Masrūḥ?” They replied, “He died before her.” Khadījah would honour Thuwaybah and had attempted to purchase her from Abū Lahab, but he refused. Al-Wāqidī transmitted this report from several authorities. Thuwaybah suckled the Prophet ﷺ for a few days before Ḥalīmah did, and she also nursed Ḥamzah ibn ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib and Abū Salamah ibn ʿAbd al-Asad—may Allah be pleased with them.
