This is the grave of Ḥasan ibn ʿĪsā ibn Māsarjis, the client of ʿAbd Allah ibn al-Mubārak; he died in Ṣafar, 240 AH (1).
Muḥammad ibn al-Muʾammal ibn al-Ḥasan said: I heard Abū Yaḥyā al-Bazzāz say to Abū Rajāʾ the judge:
“I was among those who performed the ḥajj with Ḥasan ibn ʿĪsā at the time of his death, but I was occupied with guarding my camel (2) and so I missed being present. Later I saw him in a dream and asked, ‘What has Allah done with you?’ He replied, ‘He forgave me, and everyone who offered the funeral prayer over me.’
“I said, ‘I missed praying over you because my brother-in-law was away (3).’
“He said, ‘Do not grieve; Allah has forgiven everyone who invokes mercy for me (4).’”
I say: Among his descendants and relatives are ḥadith transmitters and men of merit.
