Ismāʿīl ibn Jaʿfar related to us; al-ʿAlāʾ ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated from his father, from Abū Hurayrah, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“Charity never diminishes wealth; whenever a servant pardons, Allah only increases him in honour; and no one humbles himself for Allah’s sake without Allah elevating him.”
It was also recorded by Muslim (1) through the chain of ʿAlī with the same wording.
In that same year there passed away: Aḥmad ibn Manīʿ, Isḥāq ibn Mūsā, Muḥammad ibn Abān al-Mustamlī, Abū ʿAmmār al-Ḥusayn ibn Ḥurayth, al-Ḥasan ibn Shujāʿ the ḥāfiẓ, Ḥumayd ibn Masʿadah, ʿUtbah ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Marwazī, Ibn Abī al-Shawārib, Yaʿqūb ibn al-Sikkīt, and Mujāhid ibn Mūsā.

إِسْمَاعِيْلُ بنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا العَلاَءُ بنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِيْهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ:
أَنَّ رَسُوْلَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ: (مَا نَقَصَتْ صَدَقَةٌ مِنْ مَالٍ، وَمَا زَادَ اللهُ عَبْداً بِعَفْوٍ إِلاَّ عِزّاً، وَمَا تَوَاضَعَ أَحَدٌ للهِ إِلاَّ رَفَعَهُ اللهُ) .
أَخْرَجَهُ: مُسْلِمٌ (١) ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، مِثْلَهُ.
وَفِيْهَا تُوُفِّيَ: أَحْمَدُ بنُ مَنِيْعٍ، وَإِسْحَاقُ بنُ مُوْسَى، وَمُحَمَّدُ بنُ أَبَانٍ المُسْتَمْلِي، وَأَبُو عَمَّارٍ الحُسَيْنُ بنُ حُرَيْثٍ، وَالحَسَنُ بنُ شُجَاعٍ الحَافِظُ، وَحُمَيْدُ بنُ مَسْعَدَةَ، وَعُتْبَةُ بنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ المَرْوَزِيُّ، وَابْنُ أَبِي الشَّوَارِبِ، وَيَعْقُوْبُ بنُ السِّكِّيْتِ، وَمُجَاهِدُ بنُ مُوْسَى.
