132 – Muḥammad ibn Abī Bakr Aḥmad ibn Zuhayr al-Baghdādī *
He heard hadith from his father, from Naṣr ibn ʿAlī al-Jahḍhamī, ʿAbbād ibn Yaʿqūb al-Rawājini, ʿAmr ibn ʿAlī al-Ṣayrafī, Bundār, and the rest of that generation.
Among those who narrated from him are: Aḥmad ibn Kāmil, Abū al-Qāsim al-Ṭabarānī, Ibn Miqsam the Qurʾān-reciter, and others.
Aḥmad ibn Kāmil said, “There were four men whose company I longed to keep: Muḥammad ibn Jarīr al-Ṭabarī, Muḥammad ibn Mūsā al-Barbarī, Abū ʿAbd Allah ibn Abī Khaythamah, and al-Maʿmarī; I never met anyone with sharper memory than they.”
Al-Khaṭīb remarked, “His father, Abū Bakr, used to rely on him when composing the History.”
He died in Dhū al-Qaʿdah of the year 297 AH.
I say: He was born sometime in the seventies.
