a well-known, high-isnād copy kept by al-Kindī.
He narrated from Shurayk al-Qāḍī, Abū al-Malīḥ al-Raqqī, and others.
Among those who transmitted from him were Ṣāliḥ ibn Muḥammad Jazara and Abū al-Qāsim al-Baghawī.
Al-Dāraquṭnī classed him as reliable, whereas Ṣāliḥ Jazara said, “A heedless shaykh.”
Abū Aḥmad al-Ḥākim(1) was asked, “What does the shaykh say about someone who has conflated ʿUmar ibn Zurārah al-Ḥadathī with ʿAmr ibn Zurārah al-Kilābī?”
He replied, “Who is this drum?”
They said to him, “It is Abū ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Bayyiʿ.”(2)
