al-Musayyab ibn Wāḍiḥ narrated to us: Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAyyāsh, from Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyā, from ʿUthmān ibn Yaḥyā, from Ibn ʿAbbās, who said:
“The first time people ever heard of the faludhaj was when Gabriel came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, ‘Your community will have the earth opened up for them and the riches of this world will become plentiful for them, to the point that they will eat faludhaj.’
He asked, ‘And what is faludhaj?’
Gabriel replied, ‘They mix honey and clarified butter together.’
At this the Prophet ﷺ let out a gasp.
This ḥadīth is munkar; it was recorded by Ibn Mājah.
92 – Abū Qudāmah al-Sarakhsī ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Saʿīd * (Kh, M, S)
The Imām, scholar, ḥāfiẓ, and Shaykh al-Islām: Abū Qudāmah ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Saʿīd ibn Yaḥyā ibn Burd al-Yashkurī, their client, al-Sarakhsī, who resided in Nīshāpūr.
He heard ḥadīths from Sufyān ibn ʿUyaynah, Ḥafṣ ibn Ghiyāth, Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd, Muʿādh ibn Hishām, Isḥāq al-Azraq, ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Mahdī, Wahb ibn Jarīr, and their contemporaries.
He travelled extensively, was one of the great reservoirs of knowledge, and a champion of the Sunnah.
In the copy of al-Bukhārī’s work Afʿāl al-ʿIbād it reads: “Abū Qudāmah narrated to us, from Ḥammād ibn Zayd,” exactly so, though I do not believe he actually met Ḥammād.
