Al-Sulamī said, “I asked al-Dāraquṭnī about al-Musayyab ibn Wāḍiḥ, and he replied, ‘He is weak.’
Al-Dāraquṭnī also states in several places of his Sunan, ‘There is weakness in him.’
Al-Musayyab reported: “ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Mubārak narrated to us, from Sufyān, from Furāt, from Abū Ḥāzim, from Ibn ʿUmar, in a narration traced back to the Prophet, that he disliked smelling the food, saying, ‘Only wild beasts sniff.’ (1)”
Al-Musayyab reported: “Yūsuf ibn Asbāṭ narrated to us, from Sufyān, from Salamah ibn Kuhayl, from Abū ʿUbayd, from his father, in a Prophetic report: ‘Whoever builds beyond what suffices him will be made to carry that building to the Place of Assembly.’ (2)”
Al-Musayyab reported: “Ḥajjāj narrated to us, from Saʿīd, from Qatādah, from Zurārah ibn Awfā, from ʿAbd Allāh: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, ‘Do not kill frogs, for their croaking is glorification.’ (3)”
The sound version of this report is mawqūf (ending with the Companion).
