Siyar Aʿlām al-NubalāʾShams al‑Din al‑Dhahabi

Ibn Khuzaymah, the Imām of the Imāms, said: “I saw Abū ʿAmmār—may Allah have mercy on him—in a dream after his death. He was on the pulpit of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, clad in white garments with a green turban, reciting: ‘Do they think We do not hear their secret talk and their private counsel? Yes indeed, and Our messengers are right there with them, recording everything’ (al-Zukhruf 43:80).”
A voice called back to him from the direction of the grave: “You have spoken the truth, O jewel of the pillars of Paradise!”
The author adds: Abū ʿAmmār died at Qarmisīn (1) on his return from the pilgrimage, in 244 AH.
