Allāh ibn Abī Sharīk informed us; Abū al-Ḥusayn ibn al-Naqqūr informed us; ʿĪsā ibn ʿAlī informed us, who said:
“It was read aloud to the judge Abū al-Qāsim Badr ibn al-Haytham—while I was listening—and it was said to him:
‘Muḥammad ibn al-ʿAlāʾ ibn Kurayb has related to you, saying: Abū Muʿāwiyah narrated to us; ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Isḥāq narrated to us, from al-Nuʿmān ibn Saʿd, from ʿAlī (may Allah ennoble his face), who said:
The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: “In Paradise there is a market in which there is no buying and no selling, save the images of men and women. When a man desires an image he enters into it. Within it there is also a gathering place of the wide-eyed houris; they raise voices the like of which no created being has ever heard:
‘We are the everlasting ones—never shall we vanish;
We are the content—never shall we be displeased;
We are the blissful—never shall we suffer hardship.
So glad tidings to the one who belongs to us and we to him.’ (1)’”
The judge Abū al-Qāsim told us: “Abū Muʿāwiyah transmitted this ḥadīth as a prophetic report, whereas Ibn Fuḍayl halted it with ʿAlī.”
The judge Abū al-Qāsim also narrated to us: ʿAlī ibn al-Mundhir narrated to us; Ibn Fuḍayl narrated to us; ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated to us, from al-Nuʿmān ibn Saʿd, from ʿAlī, who said:
‘Indeed, in Paradise there is a market in which there is no buying or selling except for images of men and women; whoever desires an image enters into it.’ (2)
