This report is considered either good (ḥasan) or sound (ṣaḥīḥ).
Muʿammil ibn Ismāʿīl likewise related: Hammad told us, saying, “Thābit narrated to us from Anas that a man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, ‘Messenger of Allah, I am a man whose skin is black, whose face is unattractive, whose odor is offensive, and I possess no wealth. If I fight these people until I am killed, will I enter Paradise?’ He replied, ‘Yes.’ The man advanced, fought, and was killed. The Prophet ﷺ passed by his body and said, ‘Allah has brightened your face, sweetened your spirit, and increased your riches.’ The narrator added—concerning this man, or perhaps another—‘I saw his two wives from among the maidens of Paradise pulling at his cloak, inserting themselves between his skin and the cloak.’ This narration is sound.
Yūnus also reported—from Ibn Isḥāq—who said: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Bakr told me, on the authority of certain men of Aslam, that some members of the Banū Sahm branch of Aslam came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at Khaybar and said, ‘Messenger of Allah, by Allah we are exhausted and have nothing whatsoever.’ They found that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ himself had nothing to give them, so he supplicated: ‘O Allah, You know their condition—that they have no strength—and I have nothing with which to provide for them. So open for them the richest fortress, the one containing the most food and fat.’ The next morning the Muslims advanced, and Allah granted them the fortress of al-Ṣaʿb ibn Muʿādh; no fortress in Khaybar held more food and fat than it. Once the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had taken the strongholds he captured and gathered the booty he gathered, they reached the two fortresses of al-Waṭīḥ and al-Salālim, the last fortresses of Khaybar to fall. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ laid siege to them for a little over ten nights.
