ibn ʿAbd Allāh; Hibatu’llāh ibn Muḥammad informed us; al-Ḥasan ibn ʿAlī the preacher informed us; Aḥmad ibn Jaʿfar narrated to us; ʿAbd Allāh ibn Aḥmad narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Ibn Numayr narrated to us; Sufyān—from Sumayy—from al-Nuʿmān ibn Abī ʿAyyāsh al-Zuraqī—from Abū Saʿīd—who said:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “No servant fasts a single day in the path of Allah without Allah, because of that day, distancing the Fire from his face by seventy years (1).”
Al-Nasāʾī also recorded it from ʿAbd Allāh, and our chain meets his (2) with two additional levels of elevation.
From the Book of Purification by al-Khallāl:
ʿAbd Allāh ibn Aḥmad narrated to us; he said:
“I saw my father, whenever he urinated, wipe his private part at certain spots and shake it many times; and I saw him, after urinating, perform a very thorough clearance (istibraʾ).”
Muḥammad ibn Abī Hārūn narrated to me; Isḥāq ibn Ibrāhīm narrated to us:
“I saw Abū ʿAbd Allāh, when he urinated, fasten a piece of cloth around his private part before performing ablution.”
ʿAbd Allāh ibn Aḥmad narrated to us; he said—my father said:
“When cold spells afflicted him, he would perfect the ablution, then sprinkle water, and pay no attention to anything he imagined had come out of him, for it would depart—God willing.”
A group narrated to me; they said: Ḥanbal informed us; he said:
“I saw Abū ʿAbd Allāh, when he left the privy, pace about the courtyard and sit for a moment before performing ablution; I inferred that he intended thereby complete clearance.”
