of Allah ﷺ on the day of al-Hudaybiyah all shaved their heads except for two men; they only shortened their hair and did not shave.
Abū Ibrāhīm’s status is unknown.
Sufyān ibn ʿUyaynah narrated—from Ibrāhīm ibn Maysarah, from Wahb ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Qārib—who said: “I was with my father when I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, ‘May Allah have mercy on those who shave.’ A man asked, ‘And those who trim, Messenger of Allah?’ When the same plea was made a third time, he replied, ‘And those who trim.’”
Yaḥyā ibn Abī Bukayr reported: Zuhayr ibn Muḥammad told us, saying that Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated to us—from al-Ḥakam, from Miqsam, from Ibn ʿAbbās—who said, “Seventy camels were sacrificed on the day of al-Hudaybiyah, one of them being the camel of Abū Jahl. When they were turned away from the House, they cried out the way a she-camel calls for her young.”
It is also related from Ibn ʿAbbās that, during the ʿumrah of al-Hudaybiyah, the Prophet ﷺ offered a camel that had belonged to Abū Jahl; it bore a gold nose-ring, and he offered it in order to provoke Quraysh.
Fulayḥ ibn Sulaymān narrated—[from Nāfiʿ] from Ibn ʿUmar—that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ set out to perform ʿumrah, but the unbelievers of Quraysh blocked his way to the House. He therefore sacrificed his animals and had his head shaved at al-Hudaybiyah, then negotiated with them that he would perform ʿumrah the following year, bringing no weapons except sheathed swords and staying only for as long as they permitted. The next year he performed ʿumrah, entering Mecca in accordance with the treaty; after he had remained three days, they ordered him to depart, and he left. Recorded by al-Bukhārī.
Mālik narrated—from Abū al-Zubayr, from Jābir—that at al-Hudaybiyah we slaughtered a camel on behalf of seven people and a cow on behalf of seven. Reported by Muslim.
