53 – al-Khāzin, al-Ḥārith ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAqīl*
The Imām, the ḥadith scholar of Hamadhān, Abū al-Ḥasan al-Ḥārith ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAqīl al-Hamadhānī, better known as al-Khāzin.
It was said that he served as a treasurer for one of the caliphs.
He narrated from Abū Maʿshar Najīḥ, Qays ibn al-Rabīʿ, Ismāʿīl ibn Jaʿfar, Ibrāhīm ibn Saʿd, and Hushaym.
Those who transmitted from him include Ibrāhīm ibn Aḥmad ibn Yaʿīsh, Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Jabbār Sandūl, Mūsā ibn Hārūn, al-Ḥasan ibn Sufyān, Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq al-Musūḥī, Yaḥyā ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Karābīsī, and many others.
Abū Zurʿah said, “I have not been informed of any mistake on his part except in a single ḥadith; it seems that one report became mixed with another.”
Ibn ʿAdī deemed him lenient.
He died in 235 AH, and his father had been among the caliphate’s treasurers.
