and Abū al-Ḥasan ibn Ayyūb conveyed it to us; al-Bazzār also reported to us. Abū ʿAlī ibn Shādhān informed us, Abū Sahl ibn Ziyād narrated to us, Muḥammad ibn Ismāʿīl al-Sulamī told us, Sulaymān ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān transmitted from Khālid ibn Yazīd ibn Abī Mālik, from his father, from ʿAṭāʾ ibn Abī Rabāḥ:
“I heard Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī say: ‘People, fear Allah, and do not let hardship drive you to seek provision through unlawful means, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: “O Allah, gather me in the company of the poor and do not gather me with the rich, for the most wretched of all is the one who is afflicted by the poverty of this world together with the punishment of the Hereafter.”’”
This report is exceedingly singular. Khālid was a Damascene, and Yaḥyā ibn Maʿīn declared him weak. ⦗1⦘
