He narrated from Ḥafṣ ibn Ghiyāth, Abū Muʿāwiyah, Abū Bakr ibn ʿAyyāsh, Ḥusayn al-Juʿfī, Ibn Fuḍayl, ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd al-Himmanī and a number of others.

al-ʿAbbās ibn Muṣʿab said: I heard Aḥmad ibn Yaḥyā al-Kushmīhanī say that he heard Aḥmad ibn ʿUmar al-Wakīʿī say, “I supervised the maẓālim court in Marw for twelve years, and no case ever came before me but that I had memorised a hadith relevant to it; I therefore had no need for personal opinion, nor for those who depend on it.”
The author says: He transmitted ʿĀṣim’s Quranic reading from Yaḥyā ibn Ādam.
He died in Ṣafar, 235 AH. Aḥmad ibn Jaʿfar al-Wakīʿī had passed away several years earlier. In that same year also died Shaybān ibn Farrūkh and others previously mentioned.
